About the Downtown Association
The mission of the San Leandro Downtown Association is to create a positive, cooperative and inclusive atmosphere in the downtown area, and San Leandro as a whole, that encourages and promotes commerce.
We’re a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization. Our tax id is 94-3351274. Your membership is considered a business deduction.
The San Leandro Downtown Association usually meets monthly, often on the 4th Friday of each month from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Englander. We are experimenting with evening mixers for those of us who’d rather relax and network after the workday is done. You don’t need to be a member to come see what we’re up to. During our meetings, we encourage everyone to share ideas and build commerce in our downtown.
Our meetings provide all businesses with the opportunity to fast track concerns through City Hall, participate in the planning of Downtown Events, leverage marketing through special events, and be part of a dynamic presence on the website. A Police Department representative often attends our monthly meetings, making themselves available to hear our feedback and concerns.
To maximize your membership, we recommend that you volunteer at least once per year at one of our Events, wearing your logo gear. Join us in the Farmers’ Market SLDA Information booth. You can also be a Merchant at the Market with your own table to share activities and information. Volunteering includes the very popular 4th Wednesday Wine Tasting Booth during the Farmers’ Market.
Our membership supports our family-friendly, free events. You can support our great members by shopping locally or by becoming a member or renewing your membership. It’s easy and affordable. Get started here: Become a Member
Since joining the San Leandro Downtown Association I’ve volunteered for Margarita Wednesday three times. I’ve been able to speak to many San Leandro residents and promote my business. Just coming out for two short hours on three different days has generated over $2,500.00 of new business for my office. It has also given many of my current patients a chance to see that I am active in the San Leandro community. Volunteering for the many events that SLDA puts on for the San Leandro community is a wonderful way to get your business name out there. People remember you and they definitely patronize your place of business!
