Angele Sweet Garden Design
Who are you and what do you do?
I grew up downtown San Leandro and attended all of the local schools k-12. I came back to live and raise my family in San Leandro after obtaining my Bachelors in Art History from UC Santa Barbara. I own and operate Angele Sweet Garden Design. I provide residential and commercial landscape design and services in the San Francisco Bay Area. I was just elected to be the President of the San Leandro Downtown Association and am also a member of the SL Chamber of Commerce.
Why are YOU a part of the Downtown Association?
I am part of the SLDA because I love San Leandro and want to continue SLDA’s mission to produce fun events in downtown! I have fond memories as a child of walking and biking in downtown…buying candy at McFarland’s, ice cream at Baskin-Robbins and going to Pelton Center. Later, as a teen, I worked at Baskin-Robbins and the Bookshelf. I want to continue that tradition for the local children and teens. I also live in downtown and want my neighborhood to be clean and inviting to residents and visitors alike. As many residents know, San Leandro is a great place to live because of its close-knit communities, amenities like the SL Marina and Lake Chabot and wonderful location and weather.
What’s the most fun thing you’ve done recently?
Latest fun thing…well, I have a few. I went to Berlin and Krakow last spring and visited botanical and city gardens. Lots of european cities are so well cared for and I’d like to see more of that in San Leandro! More recently I went on a San Francisco Bay Cruise with son Noel on his Sea Scout Ship Makai…it was great to see my son leading the ship’s crew and enjoying views of our beautiful bay.
